by Tore Andersen

Step-by-step modification guide
Improved visuals, fixes, gameplay add-ons and a HDR ReShade

REQUIREMENTS

1: Mass Effect 3 (Latest version) with all DLCs installed.
Note: The DLCs can be bought on Steam (LINK) - Or on the Origin Store (LINK)
2: Sign up at the Nexus. It's free and it takes 2 minutes. (LINK)
3:
Start the game at least once before installing mods.
4: If you have the Origin version of the game, turn Auto Update "off", otherwise Origin might start to "update" the modded files at random. This will break the mods, and everything will have to be re-installed.

Launch Fix: If you get an error message when launching Mass Effect 3, open "Programs and Features" and repair "NVIDIA Physics". It's a common error if you bought the game on Origin.

Binkw32 proxy DLL
(LINK)

*Backup the existing file first, just in case.
These two files makes it possible to load mods as DLCs.

Extended Final Anderson Conversation (LINK)
Download and install.

Same-Gender Romances for ME3 (LINK)
Download the file and drag it into the ME3Tweaks Mod Manager window. Follow instructions to install. *Use default options
*This mod is of course only needed, if you care for same-gender romance.

A Lot Of Videos (ALOV) for ME3 (LINK)
Download any version (I recommend the 4K resolution), and drag the file into the ME3Tweaks Mod Manager window. Follow instructions to install.
*Use default options.

ME3 Opening Remaster
(LINK)
Download the file and drag it into the ME3Tweaks Mod Manager window. Follow instructions to install.

A Lot Of Textures (ALOT) for ME3 (LINK)
Download 1: "ALOT for ME3 11.0"
*Unpack the file to a temporary folder, but don't run the program yet. I'll refer to this folder as the "ALOT" folder.
Download 2: "ALOT for ME3 11.3 - Update"
Download 3: "Improved Static Lighting for ME3"
1: Copy the two zip files into the "Downloaded_Mods" folder, inside the ALOT folder. Don't unpack them.
2: Run the installer.
3: Go to settings and select Show Mass Effect files only, by unselecting Mass Effect 1 & 2.

4: Download ALL "ME3" recommended texture-packs one by one. Click the links, download the file(s), and move them into the "Downloaded_Mods" folder, inside the ALOT folder.
*Just don't download "A Lot of Videos for ME3". The installer will only recognize the 1080p version, not the 4K version. Just leave it red and unchecked.
The installer should now look like this, with all checkmarks green, except for "A Lot of Videos for ME3".

5: Click "Install for ME3"
Follow installation instructions. (Remember to check everything but "User Files" before building & installing.)

This will take 30+ minutes, even on a fast computer. When done, you can delete the temporary folder.

Note: I have gotten a few messages saying: "The Install for ME3 option is not available", so I decided to address this here. It's a piracy check. If you don't have a legal copy of Mass Effect 3, you will not be able to install these textures. (LINK) *See the post from owlovethbl.

M3EP ReShade
(LINK)
Download and unpack into the Mass Effect 3 game-folder.

Mass Effect 3 is ready for launch

Note: If Origin messes up the mod files, or if the in-game online DLC check does, then you need to re-install all mods!
It shouldn't happen if you set the Origin settings to disable auto update, but if it does, re-install everything and follow these steps to make certain it doesn't happen again:

Block the game exe files in your firewall, so it can't connect to the internet. This will make sure that the online DLC check doesn't start to mess up the modded content, or complain about the extra DLC packages (Mods).
Block the following 3 files:
C:\Windows\System32\GameBarPresenceWriter.exe
And from inside the Mass Effect 3 game folder:
\Binaries\Win32\MassEffect3.exe
\Binaries\Win32\Core\EACoreServer.exe

If the game fails to accept the DLC content after this, install the following patch: (DOWNLOAD)
*This patch will also enable the game to launch without Origin running in the background.
Download and unpack into the Mass Effect game folder. Overwrite.

GAME INFO

Mass Effect 3 is the third game in the legendary Space Action-RPG series from BioWare, released in 2012 and still a masterpiece. Technically the game is excellent, only the textures, models and world detail show the games ago a little. This project will enhance the visuals and effects, plus optionally add a new custom ReShade for better lighting, AA and image clarity. The guide has step-by-step instructions, no modding experience needed.

Mass Effect 3 the third action role-playing third person shooter game from BioWare, published and released by Electronic Arts in 2012. It's the final game in the Mass Effect trilogy, which completes the story about Commander Shepard. Just like the previous games, Mass Effect 3 received overwhelmingly good reviews from both fans and critics. The game was highly praise the story, the art, the combat system, the depth of the characters, the soundtrack, and the voice great acting. Mass Effect 3 was nominated for 5 awards at the 2012 Spike Video Game Awards, and it won Best RPG of 2012.

Mass Effect 3 has six different character classes with each their unique skill-sets. The game can be played in 3 different ways: Action, Story, or RPG. In Action Mode, conversations have automatic replies and combat difficulty is normal. In Story Mode, the conversations have manual replies and combat difficulty is minimal. The RPG mode offers conversations with manual replies and normal combat difficulty. The only "real" way to play the game in my personal opinion. Besides the tweaked combat system, Mass Effect 3 also has customizable weapons. This new feature was well received by both critics and gamers. The weapons can be augmented with different ammo types, barrels, modifications, and scopes. Simple but useful.
The player mainly gets around the universe in Normandy SR2, the handy space-ship from where the player can use a galaxy map to choose his/her destination. The main focus of the game is to get ready for the final battle against the Reapers. Throughout the game, the player must make some pretty big decisions that significantly impact the game's story and direction.

Mass Effect 3 is the most difficult game of the series. It has better AI and the choices the player has to make are tougher. Enemies no longer act solely on their own, as they did in the previous two games, now they fight and support each other. The hero of the game is Commander Shepard, who is either male or female depending of the players choice.

Multiplayer: Mass Effect 3 has a multiplayer / co-op mode called "Galaxy at War". Here players can play up to four people online, in unique missions that can impact the outcome of the single-player campaign. The multi-player part is about taking over enemy strongholds. It work similarly to Gears of War's horde mode. Non of the characters from the single-player campaign are featured in the multiplayer mode. The players have to create a new characters for multiplayer, and can play as members of non-human species too, including Asari, Batarians, Drell, Krogans, Quarians, Salarians, Turians, Geth, Vorcha and Volus.

BioWare planned the Mass Effect series to be a trilogy from the very beginning, with the first two games as a preamble to the third and final game. BioWare actually began production of Mass Effect 3 before Mass Effect 2 was released. Already in 2010, almost same time as the release of Mass Effect 2, Electronic Arts posted an official synopsis for Mass Effect 3.

Mass Effect 3 is the final installment in the critically acclaimed Mass Effect series developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts. The game is an action role-playing game that takes place in a science fiction universe where players take on the role of Commander Shepard, a skilled soldier and leader who must save the galaxy from an ancient alien race known as the Reapers.

Gameplay in Mass Effect 3 is a combination of third-person shooter and RPG elements. Players can choose to play as a soldier, a biotic, or a tech expert, each with their own unique abilities and playstyle. Players can also choose to specialize in different skills, weapons and armor. The game also features a cover system and players can use the environments to their advantage. Players can also make decisions that affect the story and the fate of the characters.

The story of Mass Effect 3 is an epic, emotional and action-packed journey that continues from the events of the first two games. Players must gather allies and resources to launch a final assault on the Reapers in order to save the galaxy. The game features many memorable characters, including old friends and new allies, and players can also romance certain characters, which will affect the story and the outcome of the game.

The graphics of Mass Effect 3 are stunning, with detailed and realistic character models, beautiful environments and special effects that capture the epic scale of the game's story. The game also features an incredible voice cast, including Mark Meer as Commander Shepard, and Jennifer Hale as FemShep, that bring the characters to life.

The development of Mass Effect 3 was a long and challenging process. The game was announced in 2010 and was released in 2012 after a few delays. The game's development was led by Casey Hudson, who also directed the first two games in the series. The game's development team faced many challenges, including the need to satisfy the expectations of the fans, to deliver an epic and emotional story, and to create a game that was accessible to both new and old players.

Overall, Mass Effect 3 is a game that is not to be missed. The game's story, characters, gameplay and graphics make it one of the best games of all time. The game's impact on the industry and its influence on the RPG genre are undeniable and it's a must-play for fans of science fiction, action, and role-playing games.
